Update on tennis court conditions

posted in: News

We would like to give you an update on the tennis court status before the season starts. As you might recall, last year we had some challenges with court #3 and cracks that were affecting how the ball bounces especially when doubles were played. We have raised this with the City and, late in the season (Oct), a contractor came to do the repairs. During that time, temperature was not above 10C and the material that was put down did not cure properly prior to the winter season.

After inspection of the courts few weeks ago, it was concluded that repairs have to be redone by the same Contractor to fully cure the problem. This time around, Contractor will wait for the proper weather conditions before starting the repairs. Club as well as City are in direct contact with the contracting company and we will update you on the situation when we have more information and exact repair schedule.

Right now, court #3 will be used mainly for lessons and potentially for the after-school camps early in the season. Expectation is that court will be fully repaired by end of May.

In preparation for the season, club has done a power washing of the courts. A lot of dirt has been removed during that process resulting in courts looking much better, fresh and with much cleaner playing surface.

We appreciate your patient during this time and we will keep you posted around court #3 conditions. Stay assured that we are pushing very hard on the Contractor to make sure that repairs are done as soon as possible. However, we depend on the weather conditions that we do not have control of.
